Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, active Social Worker license and minimum 1+ years School Social Work experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This contract position offers an opportunity to provide vital mental health services to K-12 students within an established school district. The role focuses on delivering evidence-based individual and group counseling, supporting students' emotional and behavioral health, and collaborating with educational teams to enhance student outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver evidence-based counseling services to identified students across K-12 settings.
- Utilize verbal de-escalation techniques and TEACH strategies to manage crises and support student behavioral needs.
- Prepare and contribute to relevant sections of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), including data collection and progress monitoring.
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers as part of the classroom team.
- Conduct mental health appraisals that include psycho/social/behavioral functioning and develop remediation plans based on research-based practices.
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling required; psychologist candidates not accepted.
- Minimum of two years experience working with children and parents, including mental health assessment and intervention planning.
- Current Florida Department of Education Certification in Social Work, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Mental Health Provider per Chapter 491, F.S. Alternatively, candidates with a Masters degree must become Registered Mental Health Counselor Interns within six months and secure clinical licensure within three years under supervision.
- Strong skills in crisis intervention, counseling techniques, and collaboration within school settings.
Location & Schedule:
- Position based in Fort Myers, FL, serving schools within the K-12 range.
- Contract duration: January 5, 2026, to May 29, 2026.
- Full-time, approximately 35 hours per week (7 hours/day).
- Assignments will vary in location within the district.
